SBS Bus Captain Throwing fist at commuter!

I been struggling if I should blog this.. But Now I guess I can, after giving a fair chances to SBSTransit for their response/defend to the incident, and I waited long enuff for their reply.

To begin with, I must bring myself back to the Saturday 2 wks back (27 Oct 2007) at around 3.30pm, when I was travelling toward Sim Lim Sq from Little India. The reasons that I decided to take a bus was because I'm running a fever and the strong sun, even for its short distance.

There I saw bus service 170 coming and I hailed the bus, it stopped. Next, I tapped my card on the reader and no sound, and I continued with 3 failed attempts before going onto the nxt reader. Finally, the reader showed "Ëntry Ok", I proceed to my seat. While I was about to sit, the Bus Captian shouted at me in Hokkien:"Hey take bus no need to pay money har.. You think your Ah Gong's Bus har..", hearing this I went forward to tell him I tapped, and sametimes showing it to him on tt faulty device which this time showed "Entry Ok" with no sound.

The Bus Captian followed up shouting at me:"If you tapped, why no sound.. You better pay cash ok.. 2 dollars." (2 dollars for 1 stop?)

I replied:" Err.. Uncle, but the reader showed "Entry OK" ."

Bus Captain continued with his yelling and fouls word.. Then, I tried to put some reason to him.. Uncle:" We should go thru this in a more civilise way, can we?"

Bus Captain:" This is my job responsibility to ensure you pay ok.. You dun pay I will scold you lo.. Is the company Instruction!"

I replied:"Err.. But it can be in a more polite way ma.. somemore I paid.."

Bus Captain:" WHAT, YOU WANT TO FIND TROUBLE!.. You WANT TO FIGHT IZZIT HAR!" (With his fist tight, and ready to throw his fist on my face)

I didn't want any trouble and gave in.. Alight shortly on the upcoming stop.

Well, I reported this to SBS for their follow up, however they not replied to me. Come to think abt it, when I was on the phone with the Mgr (Mdm Sumini), she din seem to be too interested - not listening at all, I can tell from her replies...

Disappointed with SBS..

.: Bad Public Bus Services:...

Hey readers.. You there.. I'm ill since last week, wednesday, and I'm not fully recovered. I'm not healthy or having strong immune system, keeps falling for flu and fever.

Well that aside. I reckoned this is more of a topic comparing to me being ill. I wonder, if ever anyone of you encounter/ came across rude and impolite bus captian be it SBS or TIBS. I always hated some of the bad sheep among those good ones, I personally witnessed a few incidents that bus captian yelling at their passengers, or towards the extreme "rejection of ferry".

I bet you must have seen bus captains who refused to stop at bus stop because they are late or delay on their bus schedule. I checked, and according to SBSTransit, those schedule only served as guideline to reach certain stop and there's no any form of penalty, if they were to arrive late on the next bus stop. Frustrating isn't it, having schedule's guideline becoming an excuse to reject ferry.

This coming one scored the top in my hatred list toward bus captains. Impoliteness, Insincerity, lack of passion/motivation in work, not being enthu toward helping, bad ethic and negative attitude. I must said this spoil one's day and image of Singapore.

Bus captains in the modern days do not just merely a bus driver. They are a representative of Singapore towards foreign. Why so? - Singapore a small island, and very accessible with comprehensive conveniences, hence foreigners/tourists would choose to travel on their own using public transport. Therefore, they would formed maybe not the first, but the 2nd or 3rd impression.

I had an incident here, an Ang Moh conversation with a bus captain.

Ang Moh:"Does your bus go to town.. CK Tang" (where CK Tang is opposite)
Bus Captain:"No!! (+!!!!!!)"(closing the bus door and move off...)

??? Where the ang moh?

The ang moh on the bus, now the ang moh with his wife are at Raffles Girls Sch..

What worst.. The Bus Captain made them paid for the bus fare.. and said Ït my responsibilities, my work.

2nd Incident...
Impolite Bus Captain toward an Indian..

The Indian couple with their both full, and travelling with their 2 kids.

Bus Captain: "I'm not driving you, and I can't have the whole bus waiting for you (yelling)"

Indain Husband:"Wait we still have a few bags, and the wife coming from a really short distance, not far aways.. less than a metre fm the bus."

Bus Captain:"If you dun go down, I drive away. (Yelling, with a few vague)"

Indian Wife:"Why can't you wait for awhile?" (carrying her young kid 1+yr old)

Bus Captain:"Whole bus can't wait for you I***" (the bus only filled with 5 ppl)


Incident 3 (Happened most commonly, after implementation of tt tap tap card)

Bus Captain:"Hey your Ah Gong Bus Har.. DUn need paid" (Commonly heard)
Better version:'Oie huan QIAN!!!..
Better Better Version: "Tap your CARD leh"

Mine version: "Sorry, have you forgotten to tap?" (Polite and good?)

Well, sometimes, passenger did tap, however some devices were spoilt and with no sound.
Despite of that, some Bus Captains.. insisted tt you didn't pay.

Y? Because the no sound

Bus Captain would asked.. "If you tap why no sound.."

You tap again..Device shown "Entry Ok!"(no sound)

Bus Captain:"No money.. Pay cash.."

Ridiculars I say, commuter want nothing more than a peaceful ride to their destination. And afterall, ain't they the customer, should they be treated badly? Even if they are not.. Human with sense should treat one another politely.

Perhap not all the times, nor does it happened to everyone, however some do experience awful ride - being humiliated, verbally harrassment and physiologically insulted by impolite bus captain. Maybe to the extreme threaten to a fight.. I guess public bus company should work toward training Bus captains on Emotional Control, and Understanding the need of the Commuters A.K.A Customers, since there's a recent increase in bus fare.

..: Late Nite :..

Ended up in such a late night.. Not to be too worry.. I'm alright, in fact more than that. I just can't slp, for the reason I slept in the afternoon. To begin with, I woke up at 10am, consider early for me, was planning to do some revision on my sociology.

Sociology, getting harder. Its concepts and theories are flowing like a rushing tap, and overflowing the sink's capacity. This wk lecture is abt Durkheim - idealism, structuralism sociologist, however, before you can apprieciate his idea you would have to know comte, and to appreciate comte spencer is needed. Opps.. and France -Louis XVI (revolution bring abt by enlightenment). I will illustrate here.. hmm complicated, plus I'm still not gd at it..

Yap, so instead of sticking on tt plan, I took a nap through the afternoon. Hence, was feeling guilty when I woke up, can't do much can I.

In order to reconcile, I pick up my glasses, pen, papers and drink. I started mugging and making note after my dinner. I must say, I did slack a moment here and there when there's a blockage in brain. Trust me, when I say it's really hard, took me 5 hrs for 19 pages, 1 half a chapter. Despite of the toughness and long hours, it is a fruitful spending.

Before I logged off, I found out what I need Priscilla.. I need a comfortable high backrest arm chair for my study table.. This is so I could study comfortably on long hours... I want it to be cozy and nice.. heheee..

This morning for sociology test, I took a look on my paper and decided swiftly, I skip tt paper. There's no ways I'm going to sit for tt paper.

The paper wasn't tt difficult nor hard. Is pretty easy, however, I not done sufficient preparation. I knew if i'm going to write, I be writing nonsense. Therefore why waste time and ink.

Having that, I walk up to my lecturer and asked if i can do it nxt time or bring it home to complete it. (Crazy? you thot so?), Her replied, I can't! You know, there's other ppl not sat for the test. Hmm.. How abt nxt wk.. Shortly, she followed up.. Quite true.. if u r not prepared u better not do them. else be the same like others.

Guess most ppl writting not tt correct answer too.. Sigh..

Conclusion, I better put in more effort man..

P.S I guess I need new bedsheet man.. Gonna get one this wkend..

O7 Oct.. yap, My birthday.. Got couple of present.. and an angbao from Eugene, Hualian, Pris, Shu hui, Soo Hai, Yihui and Nam. Really thankful to them, been celebrating my birthday all these years. .:About my new place :..

A big hello to my readers.. Yap, I shifted to my new place at Teck Whye since 2 wks back.. Nothing much can I comment abt this area, as it is still quite an unfamiliar surrounding. For a reason, I had never in my life, staying in the west for such a long period.

Due date, I'm still figuring what are the bus services here.. and the best way to travel thru n frm other part of Singapore. At present, i only noe one bus.. The one bus tt bring me to most of the places in Singapore - Town, City Hall, Outram park, and Sentosa.. 190.. Indeed.. it's quite an amazing services by TIBS. The interval of 190 is only 5 mins and sometimes.. 1 min. Est time to reach orchard is between 20 - 30 mins (if the traffic is smooth). However, if u met up with a jam or something else.. hahaa.. you die.. I'm telling you.. you die.. 1h 30 mins to orchard..

The 2nd things.. I seen alot of coffee shops around my place...Need time to explore them all thou..

On the other hand about my room n house, hehee.. I not unpack or tidy them.. Done some thou.. Thanks to my friends.. they are getting me a book shelf for my book..
As for my cds.. I'm still looking for shelf for them.. heheee.. any donation? wahahaa.. Then I think I'm getting myself a new wardrobe.. and oso a curtain..

Cán be better..

Painting didn't really go tt well.. The progress is slow. Ok, not because of the work was done slow, but the contractor not done the hacking and I can't start my painting in the living.. It was all because the inefficiency and low competenence of HDB. The inefficient civil servant in HDB couldn't process the paper timely, and delayed our last appointment by 2 days!! Fm wed to Friday.. Having 2 days make a lot of different in the project timeline, see here..

The original plan was to start hacking on Wednesday afternoon after signing the paper, where the contractor has 2 & half to work on the living, and another one day (which is monday) to work in the kitchen. With doing so, I can start painting my house - except kitchenn over the wkend.

Now I can't, plan all screwed up.. This not the end, the moron could not even do proper est of the doc processing time. HDB only call in Tuesday's evening to say it delayed to Thursday, and later on Thursday's morning to say is cancel again!! And I applied my leave to go liao!!!!

MOre to come.. I sold my house to buy tt new house..On Friday.. I come to realise tt the contra on my CPF is not fully utilised!! Meaning, HDB credited back 6k back to my CPF.. Other words, I have to fork out the 6k fm cash!!.. I dunno y.. Y can't I utilised my amt in CPF..

Must must must investigate.. if there's any mistake in tt contra process..

Started school for two wks..Picking up well, other than tt module to Introduction to Business Management, I guess it would be perfect.

On the other hand, I'm busy with both work and new home at Teck Whye. Yea, I'm moving soon. At present, I'm doing the interior design, and purchasing new furniture. Well, recruiting painters now.. Any volunteer!! No choices got to cut cost, and cheapo me looking for helper.. Anyone!! I set the date for painting: 18, 19, 24, 25 ,27 Aug and if possible 22nd or 23rd.

BTW.. any colour expertise here.. I be painting my wall as either biege, sandbrown or grey.. any suggestion wat can my ceiling and corney colour be??

I know I Know.. I not blog for damn so long.. Trust me, I long to do some blogging but was feak tied down by work. Imagine this - sitting in the office whole day staring on the screen and papers, and would you even touch your com again. I wouldn't, giving me a choice. I will skip.

Anyhow, I not even have free time of myself, to the extend of not enuff slp. Owing too many slp debt too, how am I going to pay back. Hehee.. I wonder.

Sad thing, one of mine really ah kah chiu ji brother left for sydney last wk, for studies. You noe la.. tt cb UNSW - Asean. I wonder how's he doing now, not heard from him yet, hope everything fine on his side./

At least for a better now, I'm doing a little better on blading. Hehee Guess, I will have more reason to go ECP now.

I know.. I know.. Of late i'm not blog anything, my camera left unused and the batt left draining.. I not used my com other than dling, keyboard left untyped and dusk collecting. I not pratice my guitar.. untouch too.. and the string rusting, loosening by day. Darn it all..

I still in tt same old report i'm doing since begining, since i started working in the new company.. Rather the same project. I burnt numerous of wkend, doing up the report.. generating Ideas to better it.. reviewing the processes of the portal, bettering the each processes and it flows.. then surfing onto more website, looking out for the amiss in my design.. Back to the report, writing down all my findings. Finally, thinking it gonna be done.. Changes came in again.. New rules and regulation fm IDA, and implementation from the govt bodies (must be some scholar tt thot of it, darn u).. I can't continued with flow I designed..

Weird me.. decided to hack everythings.. I locked myself up for 3 days, sat sun mon, staying at home.. in the room.. not picking any calls.. not answering to anyone.. not eating.. Not going to work with just a simple sms to my boss.. You are not expecting me today.. Fully isolated.

I must say it really a good way of getting away.. then finding my souls back.. Once back, ideas flow.. and with just tues wed, I completed my proposer User Requirement Specification to Portal e**** (Can't say out the name of the portal, and there's only another one who knew. I wonder if he remembers it..).

Thinking.. completed meaning the end.. nah.. not this case.. changes come in... and yap.. I'm working on it again.. This is my work. 3 months changes changes changes.. rushing rushing rushing..

I work from 9 - 3am.. I work over wkend.. I work over parties.. I dreamt when I eat..

Fri - Sick.. down with sore throat.. I nv kept my promised.. I worked fm 10 to 6 am..
Sat - Working again.. Still typing non -stop..

Been missing out on blogspot for near a month time..Sorry pal, guess I probably had neglected my audience.. Hey.. I'n still blogging, just tt I'm pretty occupied by work. I'm currently working in IE Singapore, a stat board under Ministry of Trade and industry. Had been there around for 2 months.. Sigh.. yup yup.. rushing alot, only the peroid ard cny was relaxing one..

I'm still awake, for i need to rush a rpt - kind of behind schedule. I thot I would be able to finish them by friday. hahaa. Look like i'm wrong.

Work aside.. Remember.. back then I was so much into tennis.. hahaa. I'm still very much into tennis (Try not to miss them, tt the only time I put work aside).. I found new kakis, my colleagues. Yet to hit the court with them, supposed soon. Anyhow.. my other kakis fm camp, said I improved.. hehee.. I going to hit more and be the league nxt time.. haha tok big and thing bigger.. hehee
